At Frenchville State School we are committed to developing leadership skills in all of our students and we consider the preparation of our future leaders a priority for our school.
Student council
Each year two representatives from every year five and six class are democratically elected by the class to represent them on student council. Student council meets once a week on Mondays to discuss active local and global citizenship projects. Student council organises free dress days and other fun events for the student body. Funds raised contribute to school grounds improvements and donations are often made on behalf of the school to charities.
The student council is an outlet for students to have a say in the operations of the school, negotiating with staff and administration. All student councillors are placed in a sub-committee that has a specific focus for projects around the school and community.
Firestorm publication team
Firestorm reporters meet twice a year to develop our annual school magazine, The Firestorm, which celebrates the achievements of individuals, groups and classes, as well as the school in general. Students write the articles, take the supporting photographs and approve the final layout. Publication is done professionally and the magazine is available for sale at the end of each school year for a nominal price.
Rotakids - A Rotary Partnership
Frenchville is proud to have a Rotakids Club in year four, sponsored by local Rotary Clubs. Rotakids encourages students to become involved in projects on a local and global scale. Rotakids promote goodwill, understanding, active leadership and peace through the active participation of its student members. The Rotakids Club provides opportunities for committed citizenship within local and global communities.
